The temples of Angkor are true gems of Khmer art that are well worth a visit if you're in Southeast Asia. On this 4-day tour from Bangkok, we'll cross the border into Cambodia to visit Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom.

4-day Tour to The Temples of Angkor

Day 1: Bangkok - Siem Reap

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Samsen Street Hotel in Bangkok and set off for Siem Reap, where we'll arrive after a seven-hour drive. Once in this Cambodian city, you'll have the rest of the day free to rest and recharge your batteries for the next day.

Day 2: Siem Reap - Angkor Temples

After enjoying a buffet breakfast at the hotel in Siem Reap, we'll transfer by tuk-tuk to the temples of Angkor. Our first stop will be Ta Phrom, a late 12th-century temple best known for being featured in the film Tomb Raider. We'll learn all about its Khmer style and continue to the second stop of the day, Ta Nei, the hidden temple.

We'll then arrive at the highlight of the tour: Angkor Wat, Cambodia's most famous temple. With a bit of luck, as we walk around the temple, we may encounter Buddhist monks meditating.

We'll continue the tour by visiting the ancient city of Angkor Thom and its temples Bayon and Baphuon. We'll continue with a stop at Phimeanakas temple, a step pyramid nestled between the temples of Bayon and Baphuon.

Finally, we'll board the tuk-tuk again and return to the hotel.

Day 3: Siem Reap - Tonle Lake/Angkor Temples

When booking, you can choose between two options. Once you have enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, you can choose to go to the Tonle Lake jetty, the largest expanse of fresh water in Southeast Asia. There, we'll board a boat and enjoy a boat ride on the lake.

You'll see the floating village of Kompong Pluk, whose houses, schools, pagodas, and shops are supported on stilts in the lake. You'll love it! After sailing through the mangroves, we'll return to the pier and travel to the Beng Mealea temple, guarded by multi-headed snakes that forbid evil spirits to pass through.

If you choose the option of continuing to explore the Angkor Temples, we'll travel back to the site and visit Banteay Srei, the women's temple. Afterwards, we'll visit the Hindu-style Banteay Samre temple, decorated with reliefs depicting the Ramayana.

Other temples we'll visit are the Pre Rup temple and the Banteay Kdei temple, the latter an ancient Buddhist monastery whose ruins are covered with vegetation.

Finally, we'll return to the hotel in Siem Reap to rest.

Day 4: Siem Reap - Bangkok

We'll have breakfast at the hotel and depart for Bangkok at around 8 am. We'll arrive in the capital of Thailand at around 4 pm.
