Bangkok Public Holidays

  • New Year: 1st January
  • Magha Puja: 19th February, the date changes depending on the lunar calendar, and it's a day to celebrate the teachings of Buddha.
  • Chakri day: A day that pays homage to the various Chakri, who ruled Thailand until 1782
  • Songkran festivities: 13 - 15 April. Thai Buddhist New Year. The streets of the city are filled with music, dance, and theatre.
  • Labour day: 1st May. International holiday.
  • Coronation of king Vajiralongkorn: 6th May
  • Visakha Bucha day: May 20th. In honour of the three moments that marked the life of the Buddha: birth, illumination and death.
  • Khao Phansa day: 17th July. A holiday from the Thai lunar calendar.
  • King Vajiralongkorn's birthday: 28th July. In Thailand they worship their king so much that his birthday is a national holiday!
  • Queen Sirikit's Birthday: 12th August. The queen's birthday is also a national holiday.
  • Chulalongkorn Day: in honour of king Chulalongkorn, one of the most celebrated from the Chakri dynasty.
  • Birthday of King Bhumipol Adulyadej: deceased. 5th December
  • Day of the constitution: 10th December
  • New Year: 31st of December. In Thailand New Year's Eve is a holiday
