Immerse yourself in Thailand's rich cultural, historical and architectural heritage on this day trip to the ancient capital city: Ayutthaya.

Ayutthaya Day Trip

Between 7:30 am and 8 am we'll meet at National Stadium BTS Station. Then we'll make our way to the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, in an air-conditioned vehicle, arriving at 10 am. The former Thai King's summer royal residence is an incredible riverside palace complex with incredible architecture. The golden pagodas and serene pools make a great introduction to the region’s glorious past.

Next, we'll continue onto the ruins of  Ayutthaya. This historic city of Ayutthaya was founded in 1350 and was the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. The city was attacked by the Burmese army in 1767 who burned the city to the ground and forced its inhabitants to abandon the city. The city was never rebuilt and the ancient structures that remain are a gateway to the past! The many tree roots growing around scattered Buddha heads only add to the historical charm of this unique destination.

After exploring this ancient city, we'll stop for lunch in a local restaurant to refuel our energy.  We'll have several hours to explore fascinating ancient religious sites including Wat Mahathat where a large Buddha head sits nestled between ancient tree roots. We’ll also visit Wat Mongkol Borpit known for its enormous seated Buddha statue. Then we'll continue on to see Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, the holiest and most important complex of the ancient Thai capital.

Finally, we'll explore Wat Chaiwatthanaram, known for its towering stone Thai Buddhist chedis monument. This site is one of the main reasons Ayutthaya was awarded UNESCO status in 1991.

Finally, with your camera roll full of photos, we’ll transport you back to Bangkok after a fun and informative day out.
